      Asthma Foundation NSW strives to improve health outcomes for people with asthma by providing evidence based, user friendly information to better manage their asthma and stay well. 

      One of our key areas of focus is advocating for changes to current policies in order to create safer environments for people with asthma. To help us take our advocacy activities to a new level we are looking for a passionate Public Affairs and Media Co-ordinator to join our friendly and dedicated team. 

       As our ideal candidate, you will be someone who uses their initiative and is bursting with creative ideas that you can apply to drive community engagement in our advocacy work using traditional and emerging media.


      In this newly established role you will:

      • Advocate on behalf of people with asthma to create safer environments
      • Develop campaigns to engage the wider community to further our advocacy work
      • Provide media, communication, public affairs and public relations support

      You will have significant experience in government relations, a strong knowledge of political and government structures, sound strategic thinking as well as strong communication and negotiations skills. You will also have formal qualifications or proven experience in communications, journalism or advocacy (minimum 3 years). Experience in the health and/or not-for-profit sectors will be advantageous.


      Selection Criteria

      Significant experience in government relations with a strong knowledge of political and government structures 

      • Demonstrated experience in writing high quality policy reform submissions and public policy positions
      • Excellent project management skills with the ability to prioritise and juggle multiple tasks
      • Proven experience of running successful communication campaigns to meet organisational objectives
