PJ Day

What is PJ Day?

Enjoy the day in your PJs! Have an extra fun day by getting your school, child care centre, community group or workplace involved, and charge a gold coin donation to anyone wearing their PJs, slippers or dressing gown. You could raise some extra funds by organising a PJ Day breakfast, morning tea or sausage sizzle. The options are endless.

When is PJ Day?

PJ Day is held every year in May to coincide with World Asthma Day. You can hold your fundraiser any time in May, or even at another time if that is more suitable.

PJ Day was first initiated in 2007 by a young girl called Montanna. Montanna had serious asthma and was in and out of hospital frequently. As a result, she spent a lot of her childhood unwell and in her pyjamas. This gave her the idea to hold a PJ Day fundraiser and donate the money to Asthma Foundation NSW. Since then, the Asthma Foundation ACT has adopted this as an annual fundraiser.

How do I register?

Contact the Asthma Foundation ACT. We will send you your letter of authority to fundraise for us.

What do I need to do?

It’s a good idea to print out one of our PJ Day posters with the details of your event and put them up to make sure everyone knows when it is. There are also some fun activity sheets for the classroom that you can download.

Send the funds raised to the Asthma Foundation ACT as soon as possible after PJ day.

After we receive the funds that you raise, we’ll send you a Certificate of Appreciation for you to display.

Participate in a fitness challenge

Thinking of entering an organised fitness challenge this year? Why not raise funds at the same time and help support our asthma services and research programs.

Every year we have wonderful supporters who raise funds in this way. Just a few of the events that they participate in are:

  • The Color Run
  • The Canberra Times Fun Run
  • The Sun Herald City2Surf
  • and more…

See below to find out which events are coming up soon, and to create your own online fundraising page. You can also read about some of our supporters who are currently raising funds for us.

You can help reduce the impact of asthma by raising awareness and funds for asthma support and research programs. Every day, Asthma Australia and its member Foundations help Australians get their asthma under control and reduce the impact asthma has on their quality of life.

There are so many ways in which you can raise funds to help:
