Asthma Foundation merger update
23 May 2016
In 2015 the boards of Asthma Foundation Queensland and Asthma Foundation New South Wales came together to discuss a merger between the two states.
Both the Queensland and New South Wales Foundations have long and proud histories of providing important services to the asthma community and funding research to increase knowledge of the condition.
The respective boards felt that a merger would improve operational efficiencies and, as a result, increase the level of programs, services and resources provided to people with asthma, their carers and health professionals.
Both Foundations voted to progress with the merger at their Annual General Meetings in November 2015.
Over the course of the first part of 2016 the Foundations have been working together to become one entity, with the final elements taking place in the lead up to the new financial year on 1 July 2016.
As a part of this we will be combining our social platforms including, Facebook, Twitter and Linked In.
The new Foundation covers over 50% of the people with asthma in Australia, and has brought together over 100 years of combined knowledge and service.
“We are committed to increasing and improving all services provided by the previous state foundations, including information, 1800 ASTHMA (1800 278 462) Helpline, training, resources, and a commitment to funding asthma research through the National Research Program”, said Dr Peter Anderson CEO of Asthma Foundation Queensland and New South Wales.
