Kids Live Well with Asthma Student Sessions
FREE Asthma Awareness for local ACT Primary Schools
Asthma Foundation ACT (AFACT) has been funded to deliver the Kids Live Well with Asthma program that will target children ages 5-12 to increase understanding of asthma and what to do in an asthma emergency. This early intervention program aims to empower children from a young age to prevent asthma flare-ups and maintain good control of their asthma, thereby improving quality of life, reducing asthma-related school absences, and reducing asthma-related hospitalisations.
The objectives of the sessions are to:
- Improve all students’ awareness and understanding of asthma and ability to seek help in an asthma first aid emergency
- Improve health literacy
- Reduce stigmatization of asthma
The sessions will incorporate interactive and engaging mediums including age appropriate activities, videos and resources to deliver and educate primary students about what asthma is, looks like and feels like and what to do if they or someone else has an asthma flare up or attack at school.
These workshops will focus on building skills that will help children manage their asthma from an early age. AFACT will also supply partner schools with a variety of teaching resources to be used in classrooms and foster a safe and supportive environment for kids with asthma.
Please note – sessions must be delivered before 31 October 2017.
Bookings are limited – please email firstname.lastname@example.org or call 02 6282 4186 to book your session.
