Online Asthma First Aid training - updated
Asthma Australia’s Asthma First Aid for School Staff has been updated and continues to be available online for free. Training takes about an hour and includes risk management strategies for schools and addresses applicable guidelines and legislation. A new section on Thunderstorm Asthma has been added to address the possibility of such an event occurring during school time.
This course has recently been transferred to a more powerful hosting site to overcome issues that some of you may have experienced on the old host site. Our sincere apologies to those who had problems with slow loading and buffering while we made these adjustments to improve users’ experiences.
A new RECERTIFICATION course provides a faster update option for staff who are wanting to refresh their asthma training more frequently – meeting the need for annual updates as now required by some schools, with a certificate generated as proof of completion. This package can only be done once you have completed the regular Asthma First Aid for School Staff online training. The Recertification course gives you the option of skipping to the learning checkpoint quizzes first, with content available if you need to refer back at any stage.
In order for schools to manage a whole-of-staff approach to their asthma training, it is now possible for whoever is responsible for staff training to enrol all staff in the course, which generates an email to prompt them that they are enrolled.
In most states/territories this training contributes to PD points (a certificate is generated on completion of the online training as proof).

Early Childhood staff are welcome to continue to use the Asthma First Aid for School Staff training as a refresher.
