Research has revolutionised the lives of people with asthma

  • Asthma Australia/Dyson Promotion: September 2017 - The range of Dyson purifiers also have a new and improved 360° Glass HEPA filter covered in 200m layers of carbon Tris to automatically capture 99.95% of fine particles such as allergens and pollutants as well as more potentially harmful gases.
  • Asthma first aid – there’s an app for that! - Do your patients know what to do in an asthma emergency? Do they know the steps for asthma first aid? If the answer is no, patients can now download the new asthma first aid app so they’ve all the information they need right at their fingertips.
  • New COPD online training modules - The Lung Foundation Australia have released new individual training modules on various Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) topics.
  • Protect your patients this hay fever season - This year our focus is on managing asthma and hay fever during the hay fever, Spring/pollen season.  Around 2.3 million Australians have asthma and 80% of people with asthma also experience hay fever. Hay fever can worsen asthma symptoms and can trigger an asthma flare up, even in those with otherwise well-controlled asthma
  • The ‘blue one’ controls my asthma: Overuse of short-acting beta2 agonists (SABA) - Many people often treat their asthma as a short-term or acute condition, rather than a chronic condition, relying on short-acting beta2 agonists (SABA) to relieve symptoms instead of managing the underlying characteristics of asthma.
  • Thunderstorm asthma: how do we prepare for this spring? - In November 2016, the world’s largest recorded thunderstorm asthma event occurred in and around Melbourne and Geelong. Hospitals, ambulances and primary healthcare providers were overwhelmed by an influx of people with breathing problems.
